Jon Kolb, MS, Director of Physical Training
Jon is a Kinesiology Instructor at Youngstown State University and Penn State University, and he is the Health Science Instructor at Butler Community College. Jon received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma State University, attended the University of Pittsburgh for Exercise Physiology, and received his Master of Science in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University. He holds certifications in Functional Capacity Evaluation and CPR, as well as Medical Graphics Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing Course from the University of Iowa. Jon has been the Director of Fitness, Wellness, and Sports Conditioning at Sharon Regional Health System, Defensive Coordinator and Strength and Conditioning Coach and Assistant Professor of Physical Education at Grove City College, as well as Special Projects Coordinator and Vice President of Rehabilitation Services at Nortrim Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA. Jon also spent 13 years as the left tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, winning four Super Bowls and, thereafter, spent 10 more years as the Steelers’ Defensive Line Coach and Strength Coach. In addition to numerous awards and honors, Jon has had several research papers published relating to the benefits of exercise on diabetes and other diseases. Jon and his wife Deborah are residents of Mars, PA and are the proud parents of three sons and 4 grandchildren. |
Caleb Kolb, Executive Director
Caleb is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he was a 4 year varsity wrestler and Division I National Qualifier. While at Nebraska, Caleb was involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters, FCA, and the UNL Life Skills outreach program. In college, Caleb was named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team, was a Nebraska Student-Athlete Hero Leadership Award winner and the recipient of three scholar-athlete awards. His work ethic also earned Caleb the 2009-10 Nebraska Redshirt of the Year Award. Caleb joins ATP as the Director of Nonprofit Development. Caleb is responsible for creating and implementing fundraising plans to successfully build a large support base. His favorite events are ATP's Wrestling Clinic Fundraisers. |
Eric Kolb, PhD, Director of ATP Research
Eric received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Ohio University, and his Masters and Doctorate of Psychology from Capella University. Following undergraduate, Eric journeyed to Europe where he became a professional performing artist and clinic clown in various institutions throughout Germany. During the past five years as a licensed mental health practitioner, Eric has been able to apply his skills working with families and children with various physical and psychological disorders. As the psychological advisor and research consultant for ATP, Eric developed the Sensory Integration Program based on studies and workshops conducted earlier in Eric's Clown Training Program (CTP). It was in this work in which Eric began his studies on learning behavior and communication, which were derived from concepts of the performing arts. Jon Kolb incorporated these concepts in his work in exercise physiology. |
Sarah Watkins, Director of Development & Operations
Sarah joins Adventures in Training with a Purpose as Director of Development & Marketing, focusing on operations, events, fundraising, and fostering ATP partnerships. She also enjoys planning impactful events for those in need through Pace Events, LLC. Sarah graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. Prior to joining ATP, Sarah worked in sales and marketing for PPG, US Steel, and LB Foster Company. Sarah values the freedom to challenge herself through sports and physical activities. She grew up playing sports her entire life and now enjoys running, mountain biking, and going on outdoor adventures. |
Matt Costa, MS, C.I.F.T., Director of Training
Matt graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. Recently, Matt graduated from Slippery Rock University with his Master's degree in Adapted Physical Activity. Matt's favorite program is the Chronic Disease and Illness program and he is a Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer. Matt played football since the age of 10 and competed in track & field during his time at General McLane High School in his hometown of Edinboro, Pennsylvania. In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and friends, exploring new places, as well as competing in and watching sports. |
Jessica Johnson, MS, C.I.F.T., Program Director North
Jessica earned her Teaching Certification in Early Education and Special Education from Slippery Rock University where she also studied Philanthropy and Nonprofit Business management and is a Certified Nonprofit Professional. She has a Sign Language Certification and graduated from Slippery Rock University’s Masters of Adapted Physical Activity program. Her favorite aspect of ATP are the youth fitness programs and she is also a Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer. In Jess’s free time she enjoys running in marathons and spend time with family and friends! |
